Recently, members of the Hindmarsh NSW team attended the annual Business Women’s Lunch presented by Odyssey House NSW.

Odyssey House NSW provides rehabilitation services to address harms associated with alcohol and other drug (AOD) use.

The annual Business Women’s Lunch brings together a panel of highly accomplished women to share their personal journeys of success, leadership, and resilience.

The money raised provides crucial funding towards the Odyssey House Parent’s and Children’s Program. This program helps parents develop the skills to set up and manage a safe and healthy family home. Parents receive residential rehabilitation treatment as well as guidance from family support workers, while children receive special paediatric support to mitigate harms and break the cycle of generational drug and alcohol use.

Check out the Odyssey House website for more information.

North Sydney Office Renovation

Recently the NSW Sydney team were delighted to settle into their new office space in North Sydney following design driven renovations.

Still located on Level 27, Northpoint Tower, North Sydney, the new and improved office features additional desk spaces, including expanded work zones for the Estimating and Work Win Teams, increased collaboration spaces, a larger kitchen and communal area for socialising, and a great view out over Sydney Harbour.

Rowan Hindmarsh, CEO said, “I am delighted by our continued growth and expansion in NSW. With these successes comes the need for a revitalised space for our exceptional construction and shared services teams. 2024 will see us continue to develop our diverse client portfolio through the delivery of highly technical projects across a wide variety of sectors.”

“I am proud of everything Hindmarsh has achieved since we expanded into NSW back in 2005. This year (2024) will see Hindmarsh celebrate our national 45th Anniversary, having been founded in Canberra, ACT back in 1979 by my father John Hindmarsh AM. Thank you to the project team who expertly designed, managed, and implemented the office expansion.”

To celebrate this milestone the Hindmarsh NSW Teams got together at the North Sydney office for food and drinks, and a big thank you to the renovation project leader Aivy Le.

Don't Walk By NSW Showcase - Falling Objects

Recently the Hindmarsh NSW Project Teams came together to take part in our quarterly ‘Don’t Walk By’ showcase event. This quarter saw the teams focus on ‘Preventing Falling Objects’.

Falling objects are one of the main causes of incidents in the workplace. The most commonly dropped objects include:

  • walls being demolished.
  • materials stored or stacked improperly at the workplace.
  • construction debris or waste materials.
  • tools dropped from height.
  • scaffolding components, including building materials falling from the scaffold.
  • stacked items blown off roofs during high winds.

The teams took part in a variety of interactive workshops, wrapping up with a BBQ and a chance to share what they had learnt with their peers.

MATES in Construction NSW were invited to provide additional information and support around mental health, and drug, alcohol and gambling addiction and what resources there are to help anyone effected.

Craig Young, Hindmarsh SQE Manager said, “At Hindmarsh we believe that instilling a better understanding of safety best practices entrusts everyone to take ownership of their safety and the safety of their colleagues. This sense of empowerment fosters a collaborative, responsible and proactive working environment. Thank you to everyone who took part and made the showcase such a success. Special thanks to Brad Parker CEO, and Andrew Bate Field Officer from Mates In Construction NSW for providing some really useful advice and support tools.”
