Hindmarsh & Washbox win ‘Asia-Pacific Project Controls SUSTAINABILITY Project of the Year’ – sponsored by Prescience Technology

We are delighted to announce that the Margaret Hendry School Expansion (MHSE) project, in partnership with Washbox, has won the ‘Asia-Pacific Project Controls SUSTAINABILITY Project of the Year’ – sponsored by Prescience Technology.

Nadine O’Keeffe, Hindmarsh Project Director said, “We are very proud to be recognised for our approach to environmental build best practice measures at the MHSE, which was delivered for Major Projects Canbera on behalf of the ACT Education Directorate. The partnership with Washbox represents a significant part of our ‘better-than-business-as-usual’ strategy across the Safety, Quality and Environmental (SQE) initiatives we practise at Hindmarsh. Well done to the Hindmarsh Project Team, Washbox, our Delivery Partners, and Suppliers for this amazing outcome.”

Andrew Crimston, Founder and CEO GeoSentinel Washbox added, “This recognition underscores the positive impact that Washbox brings to construction sites contributing not only to project success but also to environmental sustainability. The early adoption of Washbox by Hindmarsh and our ongoing collaboration reflects a shared commitment to innovation and responsible site-based construction practices that are at the coal face of real liquid waste management – we look forward to more transformative projects together. Congratulations to the entire team for this well-deserved accolade!”

Delivered by Hindmarsh, alongside CK Architecture, the MHSE enables the school to accommodate up to 600 additional students, helping support the expanding local community. The expansion includes a new two-level learning community facility, incorporating general learning & specialist learning settings, play area, engaging landscaping, new carparking and bike storage.

Margaret Hendry School Expansion

We are delighted to share that the Margaret Hendry School Expansion (MHSE) has been completed!

The expansion can accommodate up to 600 additional Kindergarten to year 6 students, meaning the growing number of local children can join the Margaret Hendry School community.

The expansion includes a new, two-level learning space, an outdoor learning and play area, a new community hub, two new carparks and a bike enclosure. Many of these facilities will be made available for community use.

Working in close collaboration with ACT Education Directorate, our suppliers, subcontractors and consultants, we think the new facilities look incredible! Hindmarsh would like to thank everyone involved for their hard-work and dedication – only by focusing on safety and attention to detail at each stage of the build, can projects of this quality come to life. It has been a pleasure delivering this exceptional school expansion for the local community.

Students and staff have been transitioning into the new learning environment and exploring the general and specialist spaces including food technology, and Science Technology Engineering Art and Maths (STEAM).

The Hindmarsh project team is now focussed on delivering the new North Gungahlin High School and are eager to showcase their skills and deliver another outstanding educational facility for the ACT Government.

Margaret Hendry School Expansion delivered by Hindmarsh ACT Construction Team

Hindmarsh have a long, award-winning legacy of providing exceptional school upgrades, expansions and new builds across Australia.

The Margaret Hendry School expansion is no exception. The project involves the expansion of existing facilities at Margaret Hendry to cater for an additional 450 Long Term Enrolment (LTE) students (up to 600 at peak capacity). A new two (2) level Learning Community facility will be constructed, incorporating General Learning Settings, Specialist Learning Settings and Small Group Programs.

Most recently, the Margaret Hendry School expansion featured in ‘Built for Canberra’ newsletter. The article features several updates, including the fact that the new Community Hub is complete! The Hub provides a new multipurpose space for the school and community. A large space has been provided in front of the Hub where a community garden will be developed.
