Lxana DeGrandmont and Linh Dang

We are delighted to share that both Lxana DeGrandmont and Linh Dang have been accepted to the NAWIC ACT Mentoring Program 2024!

Jemma Butt, Project Manager said “I took part in this program as a Mentee in 2016 and had an incredible experience with two fantastic mentors at very senior levels in the Canberra Construction industry.  The Mentoring Program is a great way to have a look at other parts of the industry and gain access and insights from a senior manager who you are not reporting to. It is also a great opportunity for networking!”

For its 8th year running, NAWIC ACT partner, Wisdom Learning Pty Ltd will deliver and facilitate its informative, inclusive workshops for mentees and mentors. These monthly workshops are designed to enhance the mentee-mentor relationship and experience, fostering deeper connections.

Nadine O’Keeffe, Project Director added, “I can highly recommend this program to both Mentors, and our younger team members as Mentees. I participated in this program over several years with NAWIC and got a lot out of the program both professionally and personally. It has been great to see the Mentees I have been involved with grow and develop in their careers.”

Kayla Hogg - Winner of the NAWIC ACT Crystal Vision Award 2023

Congratulations to Kayla Hogg, Hindmarsh Cadet, who recently won the Capital Student of the Year category at the NAWIC ACT Crystal Vision Awards!

When asked about this achievement, Kayla said, “I am very grateful to receive this award. I wouldn’t be able to achieve what I have without the full support of Hindmarsh, along with my amazing colleagues and family. I feel very fortunate to have started with Hindmarsh just coming out of year 12 and being given the flexibility to finish my schooling and start my development in the industry at a very young age. I am excited to continue my journey in the construction industry with Hindmarsh.”

The Crystal Vision Awards celebrate the achievement of individuals, businesses or organisations that actively promote and encourage participation and career progression of women in the construction or related industries. These awards celebrate continuing commitment towards advancing the interests of women in the construction industry as a whole, using examples such as establishing policies, supporting legislation and creating unique organisational initiatives.

Nadine O’Keeffe, Hindmarsh Project Director said, “It has been an absolute pleasure to see Kayla continue her learning and develop in her role with Hindmarsh. The Capital Region Student of the Year Award provides Kayla with the recognition she deserves of her career path choices and provides a platform for her to share her story with other women joining the construction industry.”

Karen Goddard, National Quality & Customer Service Manager added, “Kayla has set her career aspirations on breaking into a typical very male dominated construction Site Manager role which I think is well within her capabilities & sights, this award both proves and sets her well on her way.”

At Hindmarsh, diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of who we are and how we operate. We strive to foster belonging and empowerment across our sites, people, and day-to-day lives. We strive to build and nurture a culture where inclusiveness is a reflex, not an initiative.

Hindmarsh is proud to be a member of National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).
