Coombs Public Housing, ACT

Project Overview

The Coombs residential development was the first of it’s kind in Canberra to have its public housing planned from the outset. This project was the ACT Public Housing Renewal Taskforce’s (PHRT) largest upgrade to Canberra’s ageing public housing.

The program was designed to improve outcomes for public housing tenants with more sustainable housing, better supporting the needs of people in the community.

The development comprises 75 units built over four (4) sites: Block 4 of Section 12 has 17 units; Blocks 5 & 6 of Section 3 has 33 units; and Block 6 of Section 2 has 25 units.

There is a mix of adaptable units on the ground floor built to Class C standard, with all non-adaptable units being constructed to a Gold Liveable standard.
