CASINO CANBERRA,
ACT

Project Overview

The Casino Canberra refurbishment project was initiated by new owners of the Casino, with the goal to enhance and modernise the facilities. The casino had not had any upgrades since it was opened in 1994. It was decided to embark on a major refurbishment to transform the facility into a state of the art entertainment experience.

The interior reface of the Casino offers contemporary, inviting, luxurious spaces that subtly draw on the local history of Australian Federation Architecture and the art deco period that followed. This creates an authentic modern Australian experience that presents a confident world class location, distinct in character.

Key Features

  • Hindmarsh had an 8-week opportunity to complete final design and conduct the procurement and tender process, including the set up of the temporary Casino.
  • Hindmarsh presented an alternative proposal to utilise existing unused space within the building as a temporary casino. This enabled Hindmarsh to have use of the entire area for the refurbishment project in one stage, and presented the casino with the opportunity to re-launch with the major gala event.
