John was more than the founder of Hindmarsh — he was our guiding spirit for over 45 years. His leadership, vision and values shaped not just our company, but the cities and communities we’ve been so proud to help build.
From starting with a small townhouse development in Kingston in 1979, to delivering over $7 billion worth of projects across Australia and internationally, John turned his dream into the business we are today. Like him, the company is no ordinary builder.
John’s contributions extended well beyond construction. He helped establish the Canberra Business Council, supported the founding of Hands Across Canberra, chaired the NGA Foundation, supported the arts and education across the country, and proudly championed Canberra as a world-class national capital. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2013 for his service to building and business.
John was immensely proud of the breadth of Hindmarsh’s activities and the people who worked alongside him for more than 45 years.
