Hindmarsh Capital operates under AFSL number 415657 with John Hindmarsh and Gerry Ryan as Directors. The operations and compliance obligations are overseen by a compliance committee comprising Gerry Ryan (Chair), Fiona Hindmarsh, Michele Troni and Aniva Cavanagh. As a property fund, the Responsible Managers are defined as Rowan Hindmarsh (CEO), Stewart Hindmarsh (Executive Director) and Michele Troni (Company Secretary of Hindmarsh; CIO of Equity Investments). Fiona Hindmarsh is CEO of Equity Investments and, along with Michele Troni as CIO, provides investor relations, operational and compliance support for Hindmarsh Capital.

Since founding and leading Hindmarsh in 1979, John has been passionate about building quality buildings, teams that enjoy working together and investing in the communities in which Hindmarsh operates. Over his career John has taken on many leadership roles  within the industry including leading the Master Builders Association and the Canberra Development. John has also been an active angel and venture capital investor to support innovation emerging from Canberra’s leading tertiary and research institutions. He is an active philanthropist and dedicates much time to the arts, to building community infrastructure and to supporting charities across Canberra.

Gerry Ryan

Gerry has over 37 years’ experience in the professional, commercial and public sectors. Gerry was a senior consultant in management and accounting services for seventeen years with the international firm of Deloitte until 1991, then as an independent consultant working directly with clients at executive management level. For six years he was the CFO of the statutory authorities responsible for strategic land development in the Australian Capital Territory. In 2008, Gerry joined Hindmarsh as CFO for Hindmarsh where he provided strategic and financial leadership. Gerry stepped down in 2016 and now  establish his own consultancy firm. Gerry is highly experienced in working at board and executive management level through his senior finance roles and is currently a non-executive director with a private company operating under an Australian Financial Services Licence.

Greg Robinson

Greg is a financial services professional with more than 35 years’ of experience working in and managing various functions, with a focus initially on customer service/relationship management and subsequently on managing risk and compliance. He is experienced in leading and growing teams, restructuring teams for growth, improving efficiency and delivering services internally and externally. Greg is an external Responsible Manager for Payments Australia Pty Ltd (subsidiary of Freelancer Limited) and led the implementation of compliance and risk management frameworks at Freelancer Limited and escrow.com. He obtained the first and only Authorised Deposit-taking Institution authorisation from Australian Prudential Regulation Authority in the category of purchased payment facilities in Australia for PayPal. Greg has previously worked at Colonial First State Investments Limited and Perpetual Trustees Australia Limited.

Chief Executive Officer & Venture Partner (SVC) & Executive Director (Compliance Committee)

Fiona is the CEO of Significant Capital Ventures, an Early Stage Venture Capital Fund established as a partnership between Hindmarsh and ANU to invest in emerging applied tech emerging from the university sector. She brings over 25 years in investment banking and corporate advisory with specialised experience in wealth management for high net worth private families. She has held senior executive roles including Head of Client Engagement and Head of Strategic Business and Product Development at the Myer Family Company, Chief Operating Officer at ANZ Investment Bank and Global Structured Finance Director at ANZ Investment Bank. Fiona has led private debt and equity raisings across industries including mining, utilities, renewables, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications.

Michele Troni

Company Secretary & Legal Officer

Michele has built a broad set of investment management experience working in the acquisition and start-up spaces overseas and in the management of venture capital funds and investments in the past 18 years’ in Australia. Michele is former chair of Capital Angels, Canberra’s angel investment network, and holds several director and company secretary positions. He is an angel investor in his own right.  Michele has a Bachelor Degree in Commerce (Accounting) and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment. He is completing a Masters in Government and Commercial Law.  In addition to investment management, Michele has specific experience in the areas of finance and accounting, compliance and risk management.

Aniva Cavanagh

Legal Counsel and Compliance Officer

Aniva has over 15 years’ experience in company secretarial, compliance and in-house legal roles, with the last 12 years working for Hindmarsh. Prior to joining Hindmarsh, Aniva worked for the Westfield Group and Rural Funds Management in company secretarial and compliance roles. Aniva has a Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University and is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.
